King George FC Coaches Code of Conduct
Coach Ethics & Responsibilities
At King George FC (KGFC), we recognize that every decision a coach makes carries ethical weight. While competitive success is an important part of the game, we expect all coaches to prioritize the health, safety, welfare, and moral development of our athletes above any desire to win or elevate reputations.
This Code of Conduct is not intended to minimize the value of competition but rather to ensure that it is pursued ethically, responsibly, and with the best interests of the players in mind.
🧭 General Expectations for KGFC Coaches
- Respect and Equity: Treat all players with fairness and dignity, regardless of gender, nationality, race, sexual orientation, political beliefs, or economic background.
- Player Safety First: Always place the well-being and safety of players above winning. Never jeopardize a player’s health for the sake of results.
- Compliance: Adhere fully to this Code of Conduct and all applicable KGFC policies and procedures.
- Constructive Feedback: Criticism must always focus on performance, not personal characteristics or identity.
- Personal Responsibility: Guide and encourage players to take ownership of their behavior and performance on and off the field.
- Age-Appropriate Activities: Ensure training and competition are suitable for the age, maturity, experience, and ability of all athletes.
- Private Coaching Guidelines:
- ❌ KGFC coaches may not privately coach current KGFC players for payment or in exchange for any form of compensation.
- ✅ Private coaching is permitted only if it is made freely available to all players on a team.
- ❌ Coaches may not provide private coaching to players who are in the process of joining or being evaluated by KGFC.
- Substance Use: Coaches must abstain from tobacco, vaping, and alcohol in the presence of athletes. Illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
- Collaborative Support: Cooperate fully with other professionals (e.g., referees, medical personnel, other coaches) in the best interest of the player.
- Integrity of the Game: Never condone, encourage, or participate in violations of:
- The Laws of the Game
- Sportsmanship standards
- KGFC rules and regulations
- The use of banned substances
- Professional Conduct: Maintain a high standard of personal and professional behavior, including appearance, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Language Standards: Coaches must not use or tolerate inappropriate or profane language.
- Ongoing Education: Actively seek out professional development opportunities to grow as a coach and mentor.
- Avoid Conflicts of Interest: Refrain from any actions—financial, personal, or organizational—that could constitute a conflict of interest, including those outlined in KGFC’s broader policies.
📋 Enforcement & Accountability
Violations of this Code of Conduct may be reported to the KGFC Executive Director. Documented infractions may be included in the coach’s personnel file and could impact performance evaluations.
Disciplinary action may include:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Temporary suspension
- Termination of coaching privileges or employment
By upholding these standards, KGFC coaches model the integrity, leadership, and accountability that shape not only skilled players, but responsible young people.
